Peru - the Land of the Inca Empire

Peru is the third largest country among the nine nations that constitute the Latin American region. It covers an enormous land area of 1,285,215 square meters that is filled with rich natural resources and an even richer Inca Empire history. Lima is the country's capital city, which is also considered the busiest and most progressive area in Peru, housing around 28,302,603 Peruvians at 1.3 percent growth rate as of 2006.

The vast land of Peru is subdivided into three parts: the Andes Mountains, which stands tall at 20,000 feet in the center of the territory; the west end coastline, which is actually the tail end of the Atacama Desert; and the thick forest landscape on the east that covers the highly mysterious Amazonian region.

With a climate that varies per region, it would be ideal to make a visit on specific areas at specific months of the year. Generally, the rainy season in Peru is experienced between January and March with the Amazonian region having heavier rainfalls while its opposite side, the coastline, has extremely hot temperatures.

The Peruvian currency is aptly called Nuevo Sol taken from the ancient practice of sun worship.
